Networking is not just shaking hands, meeting new people and attending the occasional function. It is more about consistency, presence, trust, communication, and bringing new ideas and people together that would have otherwise never had the opportunity to meet. Business people join the Chamber of Commerce for many reasons; the main reason is to sustain and grow their business. The reason the Chamber of Commerce is involved in many different events and functions is so that people have the opportunity to meet different people at different times. Take my advice: Networking is just the beginning of success, it is one of the most important steps, but it is followed by an even more crucial step and that is follow up. By following up you are creating that network that you tried so hard to develop by attending a networking event. Face to face follow up can be made at many chamber activities, as well as each other’s place of business, a lunch, a social, or even a brief email. Networking is the easy part, the hard part is continuing to grow that network and follow up with those already in it. Start networking today at one or all of the upcoming Greater Pocatello Chamber of Commerce events.
By Joining the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce you provide your business with long term advertising and networking opportunities. Because a large amount of business conducted by small businesses comes from business to business services, it is important to get involved and maintain a positive standing within the local business community. Once a member of the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce you are invited into the tight niche business community and the various Chamber networking opportunities; such as, luncheons, trade show, committee
meetings, ribbon cuttings, business after hours, and many other annual events. By attending these events you will make new friends, contacts, and customers. Chamber membership will benefit any organization, especially if you get involved; you will get out what you put in.
Kick-start your membership by scheduling our Pocatello Chiefs to come to your place of business and perform a ribbon cutting; a photo of your ribbon cutting will be published in the Idaho State Journal in the Chamber section. Follow your ribbon cutting up with an introductory video recorded by the Chamber that introduces you and your business to the chamber membership. This video will be played at the next General Membership Meeting for all to see, and will be posted on the Chamber Channel on You Tube; which has a direct link from our website. Another great tool is to write an article about your business to be published in our weekly e-newsletter emailed out to over 1300 email addresses.
The Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce partners with our business community and community leaders to provide a climate that is favorable to new and existing business and continues to make the greater Pocatello area a great place to live. To accomplish this our Chamber is made up of many committees ran by Chamber members accompanied by a staff liaison. These committees include:
