NeighborWorks® Pocatello is a progressive alliance between residents, business, and government that revitalizes targeted areas by promoting affordable housing and community pride through the establishment of healthy neighborhoods. NWP is a chartered member of the NeighborWorks® network, which is a trained and certified community development network consisting of over 240 member organizations throughout the country.
The organization was chartered in 1993 under the name of Pocatello Neighborhood Housing Services (its name was changed to NeighborWorks® Pocatello in early 2014). Its focus over the past 23 years has been to revitalize the central neighborhoods of Pocatello and at the same time has provided countless opportunities for local residents to become first-time home owners.
NeighborWorks® Pocatello facilitates neighborhood revitalization and home ownership in many ways. It constructs brand-new homes on empty vacant lots, offers home rehabilitation and down payment assistance loans, rehabilitates and resells homes, facilitates homebuyer education and financial fitness classes, conducts foreclosure intervention and reverse mortgage counseling, supports community building and organizing and offers a lawn and garden tool lending library.
Recently, NeighborWorks® Pocatello constructed a 1,500 square-foot pavilion at Caldwell Park. NWP Executive Director, Mark Dahlquist, will share some of the organization’s recent accomplishments and discuss what is in store for the future and will share information about the upcoming Avenues for Hope Campaign.
