The Shoshone-Bannock Indian Festival is the largest outdoor cultural powwow in the State of Idaho.  The annual Festival started in the summer of 1964 and is sponsored by the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes held at the Delbert Farmer Arbor.  All Festival activities are free and open to the public (rodeo and Indian Relay have gate admission) and highlights various traditional and contemporary family orientated activities.  The four-day Festival includes: a competition powwow, two rodeos, a cultural pageant, a softball tournament, men & women’s golf tournaments, exhilarating Indian relay horse racing, art show, two parades, traditional hand game tournaments, Indigenous children’s games, a skateboard jam, a traditional buffalo & salmon feast, a fun-run, and much more all within walking distance.

Added to this year’s events, the Fort Hall Casino is sponsoring the popular 2017 Fort Hall Bull Riding Mayhem with former champion bull rider Wiley Peterson of Fort Hall. The event features 20 bull riders competing against 40 bulls, Tribal dancers and much more! Admission tickets at the gate cost $15.00 and VIP tickets cost $30 per person.

The Festival is represented by royalty including Miss Shoshone-Bannock and four younger title holders that participate in ongoing cultural and business events on and off the reservation throughout the year.  The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes are well known as the ‘best bead workers’ and having the ‘best traditional brain tanned deer hides’ in Indian Country.
