For the month of April, the Leadership class rolled up their sleeves and put in some time giving back to the community by helping with some cleanup and projects around town. First stop was the Old Town Pocatello Pavilion where the class enjoyed a quick McDonald’s breakfast before heading out to perform cleanup duties throughout Old Town. The class pulled weeds and raked out all the garbage and clutter that was left from last year in several of the smaller park areas. They also planted flowers and performed some much needed tree trimming in some of the locations. In planning for the day, Stephanie Palagi had asked about Leadership donating supplies and labor to assemble 24 new large flower pots that will help beautify the streets downtown. Of course we agreed to assist with this project. Stephanie did the shopping and the class put them all together. They turned out really great!

The class then headed out to Brooklyn’s Playground where they had lunch under the pavilion. After lunch, one of the class members, Jared Bernt, brought out his professional slushy making machine so everyone could enjoy a nice, cold refreshing treat. After lunch the class put on their gloves and was back at work helping to clean up things around Brooklyn’s Playground. They cleaned the playground area, spread new bark, and planted flowers. They also got busy and painted the yellow brick road as well as the shake roofs on the playground buildings. All in all, it was a great day with great weather and the culmination of a great year spent with new friends!
