Leadership Tourism Day started at ICCU with Claudia Allen presenting on resilience. This training gave the group ideas on how to apply resilience to their leadership skills.
We started our tour at the new Mountainview Event Center (MEC). Raul and Wendy are very proud of the new facility. We learned what kind of events will be held there in 2017, and admired the new floor and their large fans. We are so excited about what this event center will do for our community.
Then we went to Shoshone Bannock Casino and Hotel. We played bingo and participated in a slot tournament where the group showed their competitive sides. The Casino was very gracious and even awarded prizes to the winners in the class and gave goody bags to everyone. We had a wonderful traditional Native American lunch and then toured the hotel. Many were pleased to see how nice and luxurious the rooms are.
Next we went to the Museum of Clean and were honored to be the first group to see “Big Don” the newest statue there and only 1 of 27; previously known as a muffler man. Brent was a wonderful tour guide and the pride he takes in showing off all of Mr. Aslett’s collections shines through.
The next museum we toured was the Bannock County Historical museum. It was so neat to see so many artifacts from our communities past and learn the rich culture.
The class took some time to plan their event; they have secured an amazing mind reader from back East. We are very excited for this event that will be held on Saturday, April 8th.
We followed up the class day with a fun Business After Hours hosted by Ashley Furniture HomeStore.
The next class is on Feb. 9th and will focus on Education in our community.
