Chamber Business By: Matt Hunter, President & CEO

How can I get involved with the Chamber?  I get asked this question a lot when I am out and about around our community.  I wanted to list for you the many ways that you can get involved.  One of our best attended regular events is our business after hours.  These are generally held twice a month and are a great way to network with other Chamber members.  If you are interested in hosting a Business After Hours contact Ashley at the Chamber office.  We also have our monthly All Member Meeting where we hear about issues that are important to our community.

A great way to get involved would be to join one of our many committees.  Our Chamber Champions committee works on reaching out to new members and getting them involved.  You can learn more about this program by contacting the chamber office.  One of our busy committees while the legislature is in session is our Legislative Council.  This group takes on the daunting task of keeping an eye on the legislature throughout the legislative session.  The Local Issues meeting is a forum for chamber members to become knowledgeable about local issues.  We have recently had presentations on tourism and education issues as well as having presentations on street issues.  The Community Pride and Beautification committee is a strong group that has organized a city wide cleanup each spring.  They also oversee our Chamber applauds, and Spirit of the Valley awards.  The hanging basket project in Old Town Pocatello was established by this group.

The Pocatello Chiefs are our Ambassadorial group at the Chamber.  The Chiefs conduct ribbon cuttings for new Chamber members throughout the year and participate in parades.  Leadership Pocatello’s goal is to create community leaders that are prepared to step into leadership roles throughout the community.  And lastly, the Education Committee was formed to improve the communication between the business community, Idaho State University and the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25.  Please consider serving on one of these committees.
