Annual Chamber Awards

At the Chamber Annual Dinner we gave out our annual Chamber Awards.  Our winners included:  Minnie Howard Award – Deb Brady, Member of the Year – Idaho Central Credit Union, Volunteer of the Year – Cami Chopski, Distinguished Citizen Award – Gail Bishard and Lifetime Achievement Award – Phil Meador.  We also gave a out a couple of special awards.  The first was to Lance Kolbet as our Membership Supporter of the Year and we also gave an award to Bannock Development Corporation for the Your Future In Technology program.  These are all great people and organizations in our  community and it was an honor for the Chamber to recognize them.

Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting the small businesses that invigorate the economy and keep our community thriving.  This day is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  This year it will be celebrated on Saturday November 29th.

Small Business Saturday began in 2010 as an effort to help small businesses get more exposure during one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year.  Last year over 100 million people across the country came out to shop at independently-owned small businesses that day.  Now, in its fourth year, the momentum with Small Business Saturday continues to grow.  In a recent survey, a remarkable 67% of Americans said they were aware of Small Business Saturday.  Furthermore, those consumers spent a total of $5.5 billion with independent merchants on this day in 2012.  For more information visit smallbusinesssaturday.com.  Make sure to shop our Chamber’s small businesses on this day and throughout the holiday season.

The 2016 elections are just around the corner and I would encourage you to get out and VOTE!  At times like these it is really important that we all consider what we can do to help support and grow our local economy.   The best way to do that in the Pocatello-Chubbuck Community is to make sure that we are all shopping locally.  Let’s make sure that whatever money we spend whether it be for personal use or for your business use that we spend that money in the local economy.

I am always interested in meeting with members and discussing their business.  If you would like to schedule a meeting with me please call me at the Chamber office at 233-1525.
