On November 9, 2017 the Leadership Pocatello-Chubbuck Class of 2017-18 convened for another insightful tour day of learning about our great community. The theme for the day was “Art and History”. It was very interesting to learn about the rich history of the Pocatello area.

The class started the day learning about the Positive Leadership trait of “Purpose”, to emphasize that Purpose is an essential component of leadership for both individuals and communities. The lesson gave the class a heightened appreciation for purpose in both personal and professional leadership.

The first stop of the day was at the Museum of Natural History. Dr. Leif Tapanila and his amazing staff at the Museum gave a great presentation and tour of the Anthropology, Earth and Life Sciences collections. The Museum of Natural History was established in 1934 and has a very unique collection that can only be found in Pocatello Idaho. The class then took a tour of the ISU Fine Arts Department, where they got to meet a few of the current students and enjoy art from local artist.

A delicious potato bar lunch was provided by Oliver’s Restaurant and then it was off to Old Town Pocatello. Stephanie Palagi of Old town Pocatello, Inc. gave the group a tour of some of the oldest buildings in Pocatello along with the history of old town. Accompanying the tour was Lisa Brian from Spiro Paranormal who gave the leadership class chills with her paranormal stories of Old Town Pocatello.
