Pocatello/Chubbuck Leadership retreat was an amazing experience. We started the morning out at Idaho Central Credit Union with delicious donuts from Double Shot and an introduction into our positive Leadership module. Then we loaded our SLC Express bus to take us to Albion. We played some ice-breaker games on the way and once we arrived, checked in to our Albion Retreat. The place was perfect for our retreat, lots of nice rooms and room outside to play lots of games; including a teeter totter and fire pit. Matt Hunter and John Azzola from the Chamber of Commerce were so gracious to cook for us from hamburgers, to steaks, to some of the most incredible breakfast burritos. We participated in many of team building activities; even had potato sack races. We also met and started planning our big class event for this coming year. That night we went on the haunted tours at Albion and everyone jumped at least two times!
The following day we went and took a tour at City of Rocks National Reserve. We learned about the different rock formations and even got to see some markings from pioneers. Some of the class even did some mountain climbing. What a beautiful place so close to our home! We participated in a few more team building activities and then had lunch from Tracy General Store; owner Janis Durfee made us homemade sandwiches.
Our next class day is Thursday, October 13th where we will be focusing on Art and History. We will be visiting ISU’s Natural History Museum and taking a tour of Old Town Pocatello.
